Certified Functional Health & Wellness Coach

“Problems are not the problem; coping is the problem.”

I work with individuals, teens, parents, and families, as well as coordinating with physicians and other clinicians. Together we will build healthy coping skills to help you face what you are going through while being an active participant in your treatment and healing process. The skills you will walk away with are sustainable, adaptable, and life-lasting.

For Individuals & Families.

We will start where you are, explore where you want to go, and develop strategies to work towards it.

For Physicians & Clinicians.

Practitioners work together with health coaches, nutritionists, and other allied health providers to support patients as they make their journey toward wellness.

Lifestyle | Healing

Sometimes we have no specific issue to point at. Life is humming along, all seems fine, but we are feeling underwhelmed with life in general. We’re not unhappy, but we aren’t particularly fulfilled.  Some of us choose a path less traveled; an unconventional career, lifestyle, schooling, or relationship. Since they are unconventional, it is easy to begin questioning ourselves on our choices. This is especially true when those closest to us question our choices as well.

Relations | Communication

Conflict in relationships is virtually inevitable. In itself, conflict isn’t a problem; how it’s handled, however, can bring people together or tear them apart. Poor communication skills, disagreements, and misunderstandings can be a source of anger and distance or a springboard to a stronger relationship with yourself, others and the world around you.

Loss | Grief

The feelings of loss and grief can be brought on by many events. Most of us will think of the death of a loved one or a devastating health diagnosis. This feelings may also be brought on by the loss of a job, end of a friendship, a divorce, or any event that is in opposition to what we foresaw our lives to be. The current pandemic is a perfect example. Many are feeling a sense of loss and grief

OCD | Anxiety

I grew up as a sibling of someone with extreme OCD. I saw how it affected my brother who struggled with OCD as well as the effect it had on the rest of the family, including me. Whether you are the person who is suffering OCD, anxiety, or some other mental health issue, or are one of those affected by it, I can help you to develop uniquely personal and effective strategies in coping and keeping you moving forward toward a healthy place

Why Is Coping Important?

All of us encounter “problems” in our lives, some small and some much more challenging or even overwhelming. The difference in whether we are effective in facing and managing these challenges or whether we are overwhelmed and consumed by them is determined by what coping skills we have developed.  Even people who have developed reasonably effective coping skills may still find themselves facing a problem that leaves them feeling stuck or overloaded. If we have not developed proper and effective coping skills, problems tend to pile up and eventually inundate us. This is where I come in. I assist you in developing skills that align with your internal compass that help to identify the issue, develop steps to confront the issue, and help you find the internal strength to no longer feel helpless or lost.

What Is Functional Medicine?

Functional Medicine is a holistic, patient-centered, collaborative approach to healthcare. By using ancestral health strategies to align our bodies more closely with our environment, it shifts the focus away from treating illnesses as they occur to preventing them from developing in the first place. The Functional Medicine approach deals directly with the underlying cause of a health issue and treats each patient as a whole, unique individual. Practitioners work together with health coaches, nutritionists, and other allied health providers to support patients as they make their journey toward wellness. Functional Medicine Health Coaches know there’s more to a healthy lifestyle than fad diets and unsustainable exercise regimens. There’s a gap between what clients know they need to do to be healthy and the intrinsic motivation they need to actually make and sustain those changes. Coaches bridge that gap.

About Me

I am grateful for the interesting life I’ve lived so far. I was home-schooled , unschooled actually, as we
traveled as a family for most of my growing up. We lived aboard a sailboat for a number of years where
we sailed the Mediterranean, crossed the Atlantic, and sailed the Caribbean.  I have lived and worked in Central and South America.  This experience has exposed me to many different cultures, and more importantly, many ways of thinking and approaching issues. What was considered a problem for one person or culture was not even on the radar for another. It made me realize that it wasn’t the problem itself that was the issue, it was how we dealt with them that mattered. I also realized we all perceive and handle things differently. There are
different strategies to get to the same place.
